The recent government shutdown was both strange and a little disturbing to me. I had never seen one that came that close to allowing The United States to default before and I thought it was scary.
One thing that struck me as odd about it all was how some of those on the Right suddenly started clamoring to re-open certain targeted government facilities that had been affected by the shutdown - - things such as parks and memorials and flood relief and so forth.
Before the shutdown crisis it appeared to me that most Right Leaning people were totally in favor of defunding anything that smelled of big government spending and after the shutdown there was this big rush by a lot of them to get some of their favorite big government things up and running again.
Look! Either they are for Big Government spending on all government programs or they have to be content with no Big Government spending on any government program. I don't think it is at all fair for some folks to expect to have it both ways.
What is your take on all this?
