You may have seen this diary last evening about Mayrose's cat Slate. We thought that we had all the funds; however mayrose spoke to the surgical vet today and they are now quoting $2800. As of 3PM Eastern, we were at $2,221. Without this surgery, Slate will die. Please, if you are able, go to this link and help save Slate.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, here it is:

My sweet Slatey needs a bladderstone operation and the price for this surgery is $2000. Without it he will will die because he can't pee. Bladderstones fill up the bladder and block the urethra. They are hard like sand and only the little ones can pass. He was just about 10 months old when I brought him home from the shelter nd he has become a huge part of my life. He wants to be near me whatever I'm doing. At feeding time he wants to sit on my lap and thank me before he eats. Slatey is so gentle that he lets my dog Quinn slobber all over him and just purrs more. He is only 6 years old, far too young to go.
I'm trying to find a good surgeon that is not so expensive, but it is a very delicate surgery. I'm not being specific out of respect for the sensitivities of the men that may visit this site. I am retired and on a fixed income. And I also work a part time job to pay the rest. I've just paid more than I could afford for his first visits and medications and the surgery is just impossible for me.
THIS is the cat that you will be saving.

2:55 PM PT: OK, looks like we made the goal. NOT removing the diary, in case someone else wants to help, and also to prove how wonderful everyone here really is. Thank you so very much.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
