If Republicans were in charge, things would be very different. Why? There's an easy answer.
To find out what it is, join me below the double gnocchi, but if you want to skip to the Good Stuff™, that's OK too. But, first, a word from our sponsor:

If one were to follow the current Republican advice that technical glitches should cause us to delay or abandon the Affordable Care Act, the world be very different. As a school teacher, I can tell you that I would never have completed even one of my twenty years in the classroom if we had delayed or abandoned school for technical glitches. From mimeograph machines to gradebook software, I have had to work through technical glitches throughout my teaching career. I suspect most of you, whatever you do for a living, have had similar experience.
In World War II, for example, we would have delayed or abandoned submarine warfare because we had technical glitches with torpedoes. The GOP would have torpedoed torpedoes.
And we would never have won the Space Race. After all, our early experience with rockets was not good.
And Bill Gates should have abandoned Microsoft years ago.
Teh stupid is strong among Republicans. It's funny that thousands of private enterprise businesses can fold each year and that's "market efficiency" according to Republicans, but a glitch in a government program is socialism run wild, and "I told you so" becomes their mantra.
As the old saying goes, you have to break some eggs to make an omelet. FDR once said,
One thing is sure. We have to do something. We have to do the best we know how at the moment... If it doesn't turn out right, we can modify it as we go along.
But the Party of
No Nothing wants to Know Nothing and Do Nothing, except continue their
reverse Robin Hood strategy of stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
Well, I have news for them. We are doing something. We will get the software straightened out. We will move forward, dragging them along, kicking and screaming. And they will be, as their kind always has been, consigned to the Dustbin of History.

Thanks to tonight's Top Comments contributors! Let us hear from YOU
when you find that comment that is tops!
From Puddytat:
Here's a great suggestion by Limelite on how to better our economy that is also a great counter to Republican memes. Find it in Egberto Willies' post about one of Bill Maher's New Rules.
From ZedMont:
I had never even thought about nor heard anyone mention this before. And LilithGardener's absolutely right in this comment from teacherken's diary Something has to give. This is one time the 1% will NOT agree to tax the rest of us.
From JerryNA:
Also from teacherken's rec-list diary, mmacdDE made a very good point, worthy of notice, about how segregated the rich and poor are in our country. Many rich literally never see poor people.
From your humble diarist:
Enjoy this truly funny story by SottoVoce in ericlewis0's always brilliant Animal Nuz. Don't miss the thread started by arizonablue that led up to SottoVoce, either.
And another one from Animal Nuz: FredNietzsche channeled Shakespeare thanks to ericlewis0's inspirational coinage of "Douchecon-3." Check the replies, too.
I liked this thread about junk health insurance policies begun by Kentucky DeanDemocrat in RhodeIslandAspie's rescued-to-recommended diary ACA News Coverage - The "Liberal" Media Strikes Again.
