The sunset was breathtaking tonight. I soon as I got to a good spot I pulled part way off the road turned of the engine, turned on the flashers had out out pulling my camera out of its case as I walked behind the car to get the reflections off the drainage ditch in the foreground.  I started to shoot photos of the sunset.

When a song that came out while I was in High School came on the car radio:

                                       Holly came from Miami, Florida
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
                                                She says, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                She said, "Hey, honey
Take a walk on the wild side"

Candy came from out on the Island
In the back room she was everybody's darling
But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
                                                 She says, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                     Said, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                And the colored girls go
"Doo do doo do doo do do doo ..."

Little Joe never once gave it away
Everybody had to pay and pay
A hussle here and a hussle there
                                                 New York City's the place
                                               Where they said, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                      I said, "Hey, Joe
Take a walk on the wild side"

Sugar Plum Fairy came and hit the streets
Looking for soul food and a place to eat
                                                     Went to the Apollo
You should've seen them go, go, go
                                                  They said, "Hey, sugar
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                      I said, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                        All right, huh

                                              Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was James Dean for a day
Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that bash
                                                     Said, "Hey, babe
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                    I said, "Hey, honey
Take a walk on the wild side"
                                                  And the colored girls say
"Doo do doo do doo do do doo ..."

Outsider Whose Dark, Lyrical Vision Helped Shape Rock ’n’ Roll

Lou Reed, the singer, songwriter and guitarist whose work with the Velvet Underground in the 1960s had a major influence on generations of rock musicians, and who remained a powerful if polarizing force for the rest of his life, died on Sunday at his home in Amagansett, N.Y., on Long Island. He was 71.

I never got to see Lou Reed or the Velvet Underground, but I loved the music he made as well as a lot of the music that followed Reed's lead, that Lou had a profound influence on.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
