Yeah, I'm an outsider now. Whatever.
Hooray, former vice president Dick Cheney is back on the Sunday shows. Again. Well, I'm sure he has some valuable insight to bring to bear, otherwise
they wouldn't keep inviting him.
George, I have been out of the loop, so to speak, all I know is what I read in the newspapers and hear you guys talk about on Sunday.
Goddamn it. Well, that does nicely sum up the entire Sunday show experience: a bunch of important people who don't know what the hell they're talking about reiterate things they heard all the other important people talk about last week.
Cheney was at least able to grumble that America showed weakness by not bombing a Syrian reactor site before Israel did, but saved the bulk of his banal non-insights for pumping his daughter's Wyoming primary bid against Republican Sen. Mike Enzi. Cheney wants to make it clear that he and Mike Enzi were never friends, no matter what that stupid Enzi says:
Well, Mike also said he and I are fishing buddies, which is simply not true. Never happened. […] Mike has a record, if you go back and review his finances, of getting about 84 percent of his campaign funds Washington-based PACs. That's more than any senator of either party.
A bold move to bring up "fishing"
at all, but it's even more interesting to see even the (utterly discredited, let's remember) Republican Old Guard latching on to the tea party insurgency. Not even the members of the last administration will fess up to being Republicans anymore, not without professing to be—dear God—outsiders battling the stuffy establishment.
