A Fundraising Diary :

No, not THAT time of year...where Santa Claus comes riding into town.  It's not even  from a campaign wanting you to donate just three dollars so we can do better things for candidates.   That is important but so is this request.

I was talking to Dorie, Mike Bailey's widow and we were talking about fundraising for the organization as I told her about two vets about to get their utitilties cut and needed some relief and she said, "It is so hard out there if folks are getting nothing or just a small percentage with their benefits on hold.  We got to talking and she said Mike would like this diary dedicated to him.  It is a way to remember his helping veterans.  We talked about one VN vet with grandkids living with him and waiting on St Pete for claims and an Afghanistan vet working with a twenty percent disabilty and waiting for more compensation.  He has use of only one arm and is moving furniture.  It is  not enough and work limited due to his disability but still he waits on backlog.  Those two definately will get some Thanksgiving grub.

I asked Dorie if there was anything we could do for her and she said, " Just help vets in Mike's memory".  We are planning on getting together right after the holidays.   I know she is still grieving.  I was happy to hear Dorie speak with the same fight for veterans that rubbed off I am sure from Mr. Salute himself.

It is the time of year that some of us start gearing up for relief for some needy vets still waiting on a compensation hearing or had their lights disconnected.  It is the time of year we like to spread a few Turkeys around.   This time and this year is especially hard as so many are getting cut from food stamps.   The veterans and military families are getting punched pretty hard.

I will be posting a big surprise on here around November 10th but until then, you just have to wait for the news I plan on delivering and no I am too old to have babies.  I am too old to birth them anyway.

The organization has not gone away yet, so therefore I am still pretty much keeping it up but the online site is getting a little more traffic.

I will tell you this much...I have been busy the entire month of September and October advocating in a much different way for me that seemed  almost alien.   It was a good experience but it took me away from raising funds.   The help that comes from that project, I hope helps veterans in ways money can't buy.   The project took up time, expense, and long hours but with great expectations it will be worth it.  Right now I need your dollars for veterans.  I know it is the end of the month and hard times but I need you to help me with this fundraiser at this time.

My surprise for all of you will be November 11th and I hope I have done some good for Florida and Florida veterans and veterans in general.  That is all I can say but I will be more forthcoming within weeks.

Please just click on my signature and give what you can.

Thanks for all of your support in my endeavors and all you do !!!!

The Paypal link is on the signature line or you can go to paypal at login above.

Hugs to you all !!!!!
What many do not know is that many of  our older vets as well as our younger ones are in a pickle.  They have families to feed and most of all they have a lot of pride.  Many are not able to get out and maintain work even if they found it and on top of that, they are backlogged for compensation.  We can help.  The organizations are stretched to the max and we still have soldiers coming home.

Remember to call 1-800-827-1000 if you need  assistance via the VA paperwork or drop me a line.

Remember to refer to your My healthy Vet for appointments and pharmacy needs.

Remember to thank a veteran for their service.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
