Received this e-mail today from Michelle Nunn's (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
This weekend our family gathered together on our family farm, just outside of Perry, for a "farm festival" to celebrate the fall harvest. There were bluegrass bands, hayrides, face painting booths, and bobbing for caramel apples! (Though I must say that it was our farm's pig Maybelline that stole the show!)
The beautiful weather and the bounty of our Georgia farms were reminders of how lucky we are to live in Georgia.
Everyone I talked with seemed to have at the top of their minds the importance of opening up dialogue in Washington, D.C. People told me that Washington needs to stop shutting down government and to get things done by working together in the spirit of civility and compromise.
This is what Georgians do every day, and it's a message Washington needs to hear. So I'm asking you to help me continue this weekend's conversation by sharing stories of the Georgia values that Washington should take to heart. Share a story of something inspirational happening in your community in Georgia or of Georgians working together to solve a problem.
Will you share your story with me? Help show what's right with Georgia and tell us what Washington can learn from our state.

I chatted with old and new friends, and the people I met affirmed the goodness of folks in Georgia.
I talked with Joey, who told me about the joy he gets from the ministry he provides at the local nursing home. He started visiting the nursing home when his parents were there. Long after their passing, he continues his service to the residents there because of the love and gratification he gets from the receives.
I also met Shay, a nurse who is starting a new hospice organization in Middle Georgia. We talked of the importance, excitement, and challenge of starting a new enterprise.
And I talked with the farmers who had spent a good portion of the night protecting their crops from an unseasonable frost.
All of my conversations affirmed the integrity, diligence, and hard work of Georgians. As Joey said to me, "We live in a beautiful state with good people."
We have so much to be proud of -- so much that's going right because people like Joey and Shay understand what it means to put service to one another ahead of petty differences.
Help me show politicians in Washington what they can learn from Georgia. Share your story about something important and good that is happening here that can serve as an inspiration to Washington.

I'm running for the Senate because I believe Georgia deserves a senator that appreciates our state's goodness and will work to honor it -- and that's why I want to hear from you today.
Thank you for sharing your story.
Sincerely,
Michelle Nunn
P.S. We need to extend our reach and bring in new friends throughout the state. Can you help me by passing on this email to five friends and inviting them to share their stories as well?
