Good afternoon and welcome to DK Quilt Guild Gift Quilt-A-Thon and stay at home sewing and quilting retreat weekend. It is time for sewers and quilters to get busy making Christmas gifts or other holiday gifts using fabric on hand that we have been hoarding. I have spent time hunting for patterns that will be a delight to make, give or treat ourselves with. Please join us as we get started with out projects. If there is a project that you are working on, we would love to hear about it or post a picture. So go make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and come back and join in because I am your host for the day.
Traditionally quilt guilds have retreats where members get together to sew and take classes. Usually it is at a local hotel or resort and the members stay over night to enjoy a short vacation from home with friends who share the same interest. Since we are an internet guild we are scattered all over, the makes it impossible to have a retreat or meet up. So we well be sewing all week end at home and commenting here about all things quilty and hand made gifts. I also invite everyone to post their favorite Cookie Recipe for our cookie exchange. Don't be shy and keep checking back because I have videos, free patterns and gift ideas planned for the whole week end.
Please take time to look at all the Quilty and Sewing ideas in Part 1 and Part 2. There are lots and lots of projects and fun things to sew and quilt. Also we would love to have your favorite cookie recipe for our recipe exchange.

I made this quilt about 5 years ago for the winter holidays.
While I was looking through my scraps I found the blocks that I use to make this quilt. I didn't follow any pattern because I had bought the fabric on an impulse from Walmart just before they closed the fabric department. I looked at the several pieces of fabric that was designed to this theme and thought how was I going to use the large print piece. I wanted to showcase the charming large print and make it part of the design.
I chose this simple 6 inch block.
I chose 3 more 6 inch block designs.
I put the blocks together in strips and layered the strips to quilt. The strips where then sewed together and binding was used in the back to finish off. I am a fan of Marti Michelle and have been making quilts using her technique for a long time. You end up creating a quilt that is reversible.
Everyone would love to see your quilts you have made so here is the chance to show off.
