Just when I think this guy is history and completely debunked as a serious source of information or biblical "fact" for support extreme right wing views......
Recently I got myself into a Face-Book fight with a few people from the Kansas Republican Party. In the course of going back and forth one person started using Mr. Charlie Fuqua, former Arkansas candidate for state senate, as his source of support for extreme right wing political views. Included in his argument ( in this case about cutting SNAP ) the thread-poster intoned the classic and oft used line of " Those that do not work, neither shall they eat." When I pointed out that over 930,000 veterans and active duty military were receiving cuts to their food stamps, it was pointed out to me that this was God's punishment for turning U.S. Military bases into "Sodom and Gomorrah "...
The poster also went on to support and state beliefs that " Women who refuse to submit to their husbands should be imprisoned or "educated" to follow God's law." also that " The poor are destitute and go hungry as God's punishment, therefore we should let these sinners suffer in God's wrath instead of the so-called social programs of food-stamps, welfare, and Medicaid.". He continued to expanded on this in another posting, " Wealth is God's way of rewarding the faithful, those who do not receive His blessings of wealth are obviously displeasing to God and should be held with contempt.". He then reminded me that rebellious children ( as per Mr. Fuqua's Bible-backed position ) could and should be put to death, as this was God's law as well. I pointed out to this person several passages from the NIV Bible that rather bluntly contradict his views and affirmations, all of which were ignored. This sort of thing drives me around the bend, people who are intentionally and willfully being a dumb-@$$. For these people, any facts or ( using their own Biblical sources ) scripture that prove they are wrong, by nature, cannot be true, or facts at all. BECAUSE a fact proves their political beliefs are wrong, then that fact must not, and can not be true, no matter how much evidence supports it. For these people, "politically acceptable facts" or passages from only certain parts of the Bible ( or not in the Bible at all ) not only matter more than ACTUAL facts of truth, they are the only "facts" that matter.
