Last night I finally did it. I finally bought a subscription to Daily Kos. I didn't do it because I wanted to hide the ads or any of the other perks offered. I did it because I've been told that subscription revenue helps the site more than ad revenue.
And I came to the decision that I wanted to do something to help out here. I think kos' recent diary was what sold me. This place has an impact. I've seen it myself.
It's not like it was the most monumental decision ever. Hell, forty bucks a year. I can swing that. I can make that happen. I'd thought of doing it earlier but I held back. There were a couple times I was about to do it when either a major pie fight broke out or everyone got heavily into the meta. Reading some of that stuff curbed my enthusiasm.
But it's cool, y'all are cool. This stuff happens. In any community this size there are going to be good days and there are going to be bad days. And I'm convinced the good days can seriously rock and the bad days can just take me to another site on the internet. I'll come back later to see what's going on.
So if anyone has been thinking about subscribing, now's the time to go for it! Forty bucks a year is a great deal. Think of it as $10 every 3 months. And that breaks down to 3 bucks and change for a month. How much stuff can happen here in a month? How much better informed are you almost everyday because you spend time here?
