In honor of Veterans Day, I received this e-mail from State Senator Wendy Davis' (D. TX) gubernatorial campaign:
Texas is home to more than 1.6 million military veterans -- men and women who served this nation with courage and bravery to protect the freedoms we all cherish.
Today is Veterans Day, a moment to thank all our servicemen and women for their sacrifice.
Our veterans deserve access to quality education, credit for the world-class training they receive in our armed forces, and to be welcomed back to the Texas workforce.
Join me in pledging to fight for our military veterans throughout Texas:

Not long ago, a veteran named John from Alvarado, Texas shared his story with me. He wrote: “I am a retired disabled military veteran with a strong background in occupational health and safety and a recent UTA Graduate. Regardless of all my education, training, and experience, I can't seem to find a job in Texas.”
Stories like John’s can be found all over this state. That’s why we need to make it easier for veterans to receive credit towards occupational licenses for all of their job-relevant military training. We need more job training programs to help veterans find good paying jobs.
Although we can never repay the debt we owe our veterans, Texas should provide our heroes with the benefits they’ve earned through their service. As Governor, I pledge to do all I can to fight for those who’ve sacrificed so much to preserve our freedom. Join me in making that pledge.

To our veterans, thank you.
