Sen. Lindsey Graham isn't going to let a little thing like the fact that
60 Minutes completely botched its story on Benghazi, relying solely on the account of what seems to be a pathological liar, stop him from using that original botched report as the basis of his latest hissy fit. On the day after the flawed story appeared,
Graham declared he would block every appointment in the Senate until survivors of the attack testified before Congress.
Never mind that the CBS story has been completely debunked. Graham is unrelenting.
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey O. Graham said nothing had changed even after CBS News admitted Friday that it was wrong to trust a “60 Minutes” source, a former contractor at a British security company, who claimed to be at the scene of the Benghazi assault.
A day after the CBS report aired Oct. 27, Graham announced that he would stall the nominees until the administration allowed attack survivors to talk to lawmakers.
Of course, Lindsey Graham is also kind of a liar. Since he made that profound declaration on Oct. 28, the
Senate has confirmed three nominations under unanimous consent, and allowed a fourth through on a cloture vote. Graham's talking big, but so far hasn't backed up all that talk. Apparently he thinks screaming "BENGHAZI!!!!" is enough for the tea party folks back home, and they are really paying attention to his actions.
