The Virginia Senate is now 20-20. The election of Northam and Herring makes it 20 - 18 with two seats to be filled. Here is the situation in Northam's district as of today:
Folks,
This Saturday, November 16, is the day of our Democratic Caucus, from 10am to 2pm at the Mathews County School Board Office, located across the road from The White Dog, and in front of the Mathews fire station.
As you all know, Ralph Northam's election as Lt. Governor, means we have to elect a new State Senator for the 6th District. We have three candidates coming forward.
Del. Linwood Lewis, from the Eastern Shore
Andria McClellan, from Norfolk, Campaign Treasurer for Ralph Northam
Former Delegate Paula Miller of Norfolk.
I can not overstate the importance of this election. We must hold the Senate of Virginia.
I encourage each of you to explore their web pages and make a good decision on Saturday.
Bud Ward
Chair, Mathews County Dems
So Saturday we choose among these three who have come forward. Anyone know much about them? Please tell us in the comments. Read on below for this situation is very crucial to Virginia.
I hope I am not the only one who is upset about how these things are done. I am not sure when the actual election is to be held. Maybe someone can tell us that in the comments.
We have been bombarded with phone calls today from one of the three hopefuls. He happens to be a delegate so if he is successful, an other special election will be necessary.
We know a little about the other two contenders and need to know more to make a wise choice on Saturday. This is really quick!
Anyone who can help here will have your comments appreciated. This is so very important and we are so very rushed.
I wonder if we just have been out of touch, but it seems like there should have been more preparation for these eventualities as we worked to elect Northam and Herring. Maybe I ask too much?
6:35 PM PT: thanks for putting this on the rec list..it is important!
