Sometimes, you just have to roll your eyes and let the zany get out there.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. • A Missouri House Republican says he intends to seek articles of impeachment against Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon.
Nick Marshall, of Parkville, referred to the governor's executive order directing officials to accept joint tax filings from same-sex couples who are legally married, the release of the names of concealed gun permit holders to a federal agent and driver's license procedures.
At issue, proposes the lawmaker, is if Jay Nixon has violated the Missouri constitution by allowing Same-Sex couples to file joint tax returns.

On Friday, Attorney General Chris Koster’s office said Nixon’s executive order appears to comply with Missouri law. House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, had attacked Nixon for the order, but there was little indication Sunday whether he will support Marshall’s impeachment effort.
Under the Missouri Constitution, it is up to the House to impeach. If impeached, Nixon would be tried by a commission of seven “eminent jurists” elected by the Senate.
According to the Missouri Constitution, elected officials and judges can be impeached for “crimes, misconduct, habitual drunkenness, willful neglect of duty, corruption in office, incompetency, or any offense involving moral turpitude or oppression in office.”
It seems shocking, but this isn't the first time State Republicans have vowed to impeach Nixon. In fact, it's not the second, third, or fourth time either.

In many ways, next year’s session of the Missouri Legislature is shaping up as the same kind of gigantic waste of five months that was this year’s session.
Already, Senate Majority Floor Leader Ron Richard, R-Joplin, who helped kill an unconstitutional federal gun law nullification bill in the September veto session, has promised to make a new version of the bill the first bill debated in the Senate. Guns over jobs, just like this year.
Lawmakers who nobly failed to cut taxes for the wealthy, thus pushing a larger share of the tax burden onto the poor and middle class, have vowed to try again.
And even though special hearings were held over the summer and fall that found major support for expanding Medicaid, anti-Obamacare forces are planning to ignore the will of the public. They are turning a blind eye not only to need, but to the simple math showing how the state’s economy would benefit by an infusion of $8 billion into the state’s health care industry. Jobs, schmobs.
Oh, and in their best Chicken Little impersonation yet, some Republicans are again vowing that they are going to impeach Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon. That will be a useful way to waste taxpayer dollars.
I say repeatedly: the control of state houses is critically important in order to provide real assurances of people that progress can and will come to their daily lives. One party has checked out of that discussion and now spends most of the time demanding insane legislation or mock trials to.. prevent people from paying taxes jointly?
