the first time someone asked you if you remembered where you were when you heard that President Kennedy had been shot?
I was in college at the time. So, it was something like ten years after the event. I thought for a moment and was able to recall being told by my brother in the school parking lot walking back to school after lunch. So, I answered, 'Yes.'
And I was told that it was funny. Everyone seemed to remember. It was the first time I was introduced to an idea that took on mythic proportions for a generation. It was eventually sent up in a Gary Larson cartoon about forest animals remembering Bambi's mother being shot.
Nowadays I have friends whom I consider fairly close in age who were infants or note even born at the time, to say nothing of two generations that have grown to adulthood. How quickly time passes.
