Last night, sallym talked of her recollection of the day JFK was assassinated.
My contributed recollection was this.
I had just turned 6 years old and was in the first grade. Our teacher, Mrs. Honn, gave us the news and told us to lay our heads on our desks for a little while. Then she went to her desk and wept as quietly as she could for a few minutes.
It was 11:30 a.m. Mtn. Time. The recess bell for lunch rang a bit early.
Our President had been killed.
That was a bad thing.
I don't recall how the rest of the day and subsequent days went specifically, just that sadness was everywhere.
If there were any local commemorations in this area, I am unaware of any plans or PR. Many cities and towns around the country had a remembrance of some sort. Anything happen in your part of the world along those lines today?
