Welcome to the 5th annual Netroots Nation Holiday Bazaar, that showcase of Kossack ingenuity, skill, and talent. Well, actually, the pre-auction, because bidding doesn't start until December 5. Right now we need your stuff.
Here's the one time of year when you have every excuse to brag to your fellow Kossacks about how great your homemade candy is, or your skill with a table saw, paintbrush, welder or whatever your tool of choice.
Have a half-finished project lying around without a designated recipient? You've got a long weekend to finish it (clearly, most of you won't be out shopping!) and a now a great place to send it. Donate it to the Netroots Nation Holiday Bazaar!
We're taking anything you create with your own two hands. Or brain. Or voice. Everything from needlepoint to sculpture to consulting services to jewelry to grandma's best cookies. If you can create it, we can auction it off, not to mention put it on display for the whole community to admire and getting into a bidding war over. Here's a look at what we've got so far.
Here's the cause: Detroit in 2014. This time of year is always a bit of a lean time for the Netroots Nation crew. Registrations aren't yet pouring in for next year's convention and it's all about scrambling for funding while also trying to organize for Detroit. (You know you can register now, right? A registration for a friend or family member might make a pretty decent gift, too.) One of the ways we make sure that the team can spend its time working hard to make Detroit the best convention yet is ease some of that scrambling for funds.
Because making Detroit the best possible convention means helping the cause of keeping this big ol' mess of a netroots running strong. When we're strong, we kick ass. We do things the conventional wisdom said could never be done. And we're going to need to bring everything we've got to 2014.
So show us your stuff! It's for a good cause. If you have any questions about donating or would like help uploading an item, e-mail karen@netrootsnation.org.
