For the first time, most Americans don`t trust Obama. Can he recover?
I voted twice for President Barrack Obama during both past Presidential elections so he could be not only the Democratic President of the United State of America but for the man who`s dream repeated mantra for change I invoked in my life and the lives of my family. That truly gave me that hope for change that all Democrats voted for. I wanted that lacking economic and health care change that was missing in my family.
I believed him when he told me that he would fight for the middle class which I am part of. In no way did I, nor do I feel self-conceited or that my self-worth is more important than yours. I have noted so much disappointment in the millions who voted with me. To find a starting point where he surely did not mean what he said, for one reason or another is difficult, with so many broken promises.
I remember the night after the second time I voted for his re-election when I was glued to my Televison set and cheered silently with clenched fist as he clearly talked to me and the rest of the whole wide world that was watching, glued to their own sets, that:
"you, the American people , reminded us that while our road has been hard, while our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back, and we know in our hearts that for the United States of America, the best is yet to come".
I was one of the millions of Democrat folks who felt proud to have voted for this Black man to be the first person-of-color-ever to be voted as president of the United States of America. I truly believed that change was coming because change was right there before my eyes on my screen - and after the turn out of minorities at the polls. That fact alone gave me hope for it was always percieved by Republicans and the general public that Hispanic or Latinos did not vote.
The turn out inself had change for me personally. We, the Hispanic held Mitt Romney in check-mate even as he held the Koch brothers in his pocket during the election cycle. This much I can attest to by the hoopla screamed by media gawker community connecting Obama`s victory to the Hispanic vote.
My vote for change was not the change I see today. I am sure neither was yours.
Everything, everything in my household is changing -- for the worst.
I am a man who have seen the dark sides of both political parties in my life time. I fully understand, [no strike that], "I know" that President Obama entered the White House at a time in our nation`s history when this country was almost penniless and broken by the previous administration of the Bush/Cheney Junta wars that were based on lies coupled with tax breaks for thier own friends and the rich. The whole world knows Bush/Cheney lied at every turn in the White House.
But despite of whatever rants I may have about this president today I am a man who understands that Presidents throughout our history have been found to lie. That sad part of our once great nation`s history has not changed. But this does not mean Barrack Obama is at the same level of Bush/Cheney`s White House lies and about being straightforward and truthful.
Heck, just think 40 acres and a mule to a concept in the United States for agrarian reform for former enslaved Black farmers back when. One needs not to go any further in history than to the reconstruction epoch to understand that presidents do have reasons for not being forthcoming.
I think it appropriate for me to be incensed after the recent diary on this same topic I wrote and posted here where I lamented being told to swallow my entitlement cuts on Social Security and food stamps. My household was wounded then and the president had a very difficult time trying to walk away around those cuts that became a reality in November when my food stamps were slashed, and told to wait for more of the same.
Not on the backs of the poor, and the middle class? It that what I understood he said?
No retreat for backers of $1T farm bill. Yes my friends. They are back with a vengence. In fact these politicians of both stripes wanted to get the rest of my food stamps by Thanksgiving. And I have to wonder why is there such a hurry to starve our children and infirmed, our helpless voiceless middle class?
Supporters of the $1 trillion farm bill say they are redoubling their efforts to get a bill over the finish line after the Thanksgiving holiday.
The top leaders of the House-Senate farm bill have come close to a framework during several tense negotiating sessions in the past two weeks, raising hopes on K Street that legislation could squeak through Congress by the end of the year. The four negotiators spoke via conference call Tuesday and reported no new developments.
The biggest sticking points in this farm bill are cuts to food stamps, yes again mind you, and work requirements in the House farm bill for recipients of that aid.
The House bill cuts $39 billion from food stamps, while the Senate's cuts $4 billion.
The White House is pushing to limit the food stamps cuts. Oh I guess its O.K. then, and on Tuesday released a report that shows how many dependent families are on the program.
Food stamps were automatically cut by $11 billion on Nov. 1, when extra money provided under President Obama’s stimulus law expired. Extra money Obama said that he would restore later but never did. I think I already addressed that.
Senate Agriculture Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), wants to count the $11 billion for the farm bill and is arguing against cuts that go beyond what is in the Senate bill. Republicans say that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) cannot credit the farm bill with that deficit savings since it already happened.
Reaching an agreement on food stamps is key to resolving the two main problems in the farm subsidy title. Bigger cuts to food stamps gives negotiators more wiggle room to deal on the farm subsidies and still get a sizeable deficit-cutting score that could win over fiscal hawks.
Over and over Obama belched his promise to fix and overhaul the immigration law and talked about granting citizenship to undocumented immigrants to the wild applauses of Latino and Hispanic American citizen with parents living in this country undocumented. I do understand that obstructionism by Republicans have made Obama`s immigration reform initiative an uphill battle. But I say the president of the United States has the official power to do it.
In this video Immigrant-rights protesters confronted President Obama on Monday. Obama hears the discontent over immigration loud and clear, rebukes heckler interrupting his speech in San Francisco and demanding he use executive authority to halt all deportations, but he rebuked them and told them he doesn’t have that kind of power.
I am amazed that president Obama rebuked those who guaranteed him the White House
by claiming that he has no power to stop deporting and breaking up families that may well have been part of those standing right there imploring him to stop deportations.
I am a devoted and loyal Democrat. I first learned to register and vote when I joined this great website that is Daily Kos. Never in my life had I voted prior to becoming a Kossack. No matter the type of an election during my life time did I care because to me all politicians ran/run for office on lies and deceptions.
I am old enough to know that this president is a black man in a white world, so to speak when it comes to being president of the United States. But this man has done some marvelous things that even a white woman Hillary Clinton failed on Heath Care for every American. I also know and feel sorry for Obama that his skin color is being used by the Republican/Tea party to make me write what I am writing here today.
But I am no fool. We all know how difficult ACA has become for president Obama. In a sense this problem does not apply to me like food stamps. I just wonder exactly when it will be that they come for my social security and cut it into pieces. Obama failed me once on social security and some think he has it on the table still at I write.
On the other hand, Moore noted that milk prices could start to spike on Jan. 1, when farm policy from the 1940s starts to kick in for the dairy sector. The 2008 farm bill expired Oct. 1, but the effects of the expiration are rolling.
This is truly great news for our children. A wonderful Christmas message from Saint Judas.
Moore said that it would not be the end of the world if lawmakers were to strike a deal by Christmas, with the votes coming in January.
“It is not over yet,” an aide to a senior member of the farm bill conference said Tuesday.
I really have to think that Obama must protect himself and his family. I have learned that he is a great family man. A loving father just like I am. He cannot help me now I know that. His own life has been put in jeopardy by some jackass`s threat.
However, he is not the first president to face threats, and he knew this job required credibility. I vote for him twice. I expected and took him at his word.
My discontent derives as it has because of the media obviously. I just was hoping that no one in that group of Immigration protestors that heckled Obama would`ve been so stupid and mad as to throw a shoe at him.
Yes, I did think of that.
Fuck, I know that President Obama is just one man. One Black man against the white world. I just hope he get angry. I hope he shows that indeed he has the constiutional given power to issue presidential orders and stop the Republican madness. Free my people Barrack Obama. Free them now.
I do not pray, ever. But I think that for myself and my family I should at least hope from my heart that President Obama makes a comeback. I hope that he remakes the meaning of the "comeback Kid" so fucking convincing that the next politician suffering from credibilty issues takes note.
I sincerely hope he can recover.
The most powerful man in the world should never say he has no power, evah!
