A New York City bound Metro North train derailed early this morning, ruining the holiday weekend for 68 passengers. Four cars derailed off the trains and barreled down hundreds of feet of an embankment stopping inches away from the Hudson River.
News organizations have interviewed the chairman of the NTSB who are on the scene investigating the accident. She sounds extremely competent and its fortunate the government is no longer shutdown and is able to do this.
Further the reports are pointing out a series of accidents on the Metro North line
in the last 12 months and the deteriorateion of infrastructure us at the forefront of the discussion. Gov. Cuomo has already been on the scene in his khaki pants and called for increased funding for infrastructure.
