Once again this morning NPR subjected me to their shallow analysis of the ACA website roll-out, using the term "disaster" no less than three times. Disaster disaster disaster. Repeat.
Are they sick in the head or just doing their conservative masters' bidding? Probably a bit of both. Maybe a lot of both.
So, just what is a disaster?
Let's use a few common examples like, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, where people DIE, and their houses are DESTROYED, where FEMA and the Red Cross show up to help people who's lives have been destroyed. Can we agree on that?
So, did anyone die because of the ACA website roll-out. Were any houses destroyed? Any bankruptcies? Where is FEMA and the Red Cross? Where are the media cries for contributions to help those who suffered in this disaster?
Now let's compare this to the status quo before the ACA. This is a landscape littered with somewhere between 30 and 50K people dying EACH YEAR due to lack of access to healthcare. How many hurricanes and tornadoes is that? How about the hundreds of thousands losing everything and declaring bankruptcy because they were injured or got sick.
How come I never once heard any one of these media ASSHOLES describe THAT situation as a "disaster?" Why don't they ever describe the world the Republicans want to take us back to as a DISASTER! And then obsess over how this will affect the next elections.
This is just too sick.
