From a Piers Morgan segment in..... you pick the year:
PIERS: Mitt, I know you're a modest, unassuming kind of guy (audience laughter), but I think it's time for you to come clean. Weren't you actually the father of the wildly successful national health insurance program that everybody calls Obamacare?
MITT: Well, Piers, you're actually right on both counts. I do always try to keep my good looks, beautiful family, great wealth and awesome achievements in life out of the public's view, but I guess it's about time for me to reluctantly admit that it was really my idea, and that Obama fellow just stole it from me. He put his own name on it and used it against me in the 2012 campaign.
ANN: (interrupting) And if wasn't for that underhanded move by that awful man, Mitt would have won that election, and the world would be so much a better place if he did. Why, he would have bombed Iran, and cut our taxes to zero, and put those dirty 47% in their rightful place and, and, and......
PIERS: (interrupting) It's time for a break. We'll be right back with Mitt, while Ann feeds her horse.
Let's face it: Obamacare is here to stay! Even worse for Republicans in the next election, when they howl about 'Repeal Obamacare' they're actually saying 'I want to take away YOUR health care' to many of their own supporters.
Before the next election, there will be at least 5 - perhaps more than 10 - million people getting health insurance through the exchanges or Medicaid. That means most people will at least know someone benefitting from Obamacare, and I think public acceptance will grow quickly once people see that this isn't what the Republicans have been screaming about for 4 years, but just a method for rich people to help pay for poorer people to get adequate health care.
And at some point, once Obamacare isn't a battleground, I just know that Mitt Romney is going to try to take ownership of it.
Keep the faith, folks. Obamacare is working. Every poor person signing up for Medicaid is a huge victory for progressives and, more importantly, for our country.
Cheers.
