Received this e-mail today from the Democratic Governors Association over Governor Rick Scott's (R. FL) latest attempt to suppress the vote:
There’s a new plot to suppress voting in Florida, and it comes just months before an important special election to fill a Republican House seat.
Florida Governor Rick Scott’s Secretary of State just issued new rules prohibiting voters from dropping off their absentee ballots at public libraries and other convenient locations. The move will make it harder for voters who like to save postage by dropping off their ballots at an early voting site.
One stunned elections supervisor – who was not consulted prior to the change – summed it up perfectly: “Why create a problem when none currently exists?”
We can’t let Governor Scott and Florida Republicans get away with this latest attack on voting rights just months before the special election.
Sign the DGA’s petition demanding that the Scott administration immediately retract these unnecessary and unfair new voting restrictions.

Governor Scott has one of the worst records in the country on voting rights, in a swing state with a troubled history of voter suppression. Last year the state infamously removed hundreds of suspected non-citizens from the voting rolls. Later analysis showed that the purge targeted many voting-eligible U.S. citizens, mainly Latino, African, and Asian Americans.
Scott and his cronies will do everything in their power to keep Florida under Republican control, even if that means denying American citizens the basic right to vote.
If Scott gets away with it this time, you know he’s going to push for even more draconian restrictions ahead of his own election next November.
We’re not going to let him get away with it, as long as we have a grassroots army on our side.
Join us in standing against Governor Scott’s new voting restrictions in Florida.
