While i was resting up, two Democratic U.S. Senators are putting the pressure on Congress regarding Rep. Paul Ryan's (R. WI) budget as budget negotiations are underway. The first came from Senator Tom Udall (D. NM):
Vouchers work great for validating parking. Not so much for health care.
Yet for three years running, Paul Ryan and Tea Party obstructionists in the House have tried, time and again, to pass a federal budget that would turn Medicare into a voucher system and put insurance companies in charge of seniors’ healthcare.
Vouchers are a terrible idea for New Mexico seniors. Paul Ryan’s plan would put a cap on Medicare spending and force seniors to pay thousands of dollars more in out-of-pocket expenses for medical care.
Our seniors can’t afford a Ryan Plan budget. Join me: Tell Congress not to turn Medicare into a voucher system.

Our federal budget is supposed to reflect our priorities as a nation. It should be a roadmap that helps us focus on what’s important now and guide our decisions about the future.
But the Ryan Budget doesn’t do any of these things.
Instead, it slashes almost $3 billion in health care spending, taking away benefits for thousands of New Mexico seniors and forcing them to pay more for prescription drug coverage and preventative care.
Don’t let Paul Ryan and the Tea Party turn Medicare into a voucher system. Add your name to the petition today.

Thank you for standing with me and fighting to protect our Medicare system.
Sincerely,
Tom

The second one came from Senator Kay Hagan (D. NC):
You remember the Ryan Plan, right? It’s the budget plan that Paul Ryan and out-of-touch Tea Partiers have jammed through the House three years running.
And with federal budget negotiations set to take place this month, you can bet it’s going to be front and center again.
The Ryan Plan would be disastrous for North Carolina seniors -- ending Medicare as we know it and turning it into a voucher system that benefits big insurance companies rather than those who need it most.
Take action now, before it’s too late. Sign the petition and tell Congress to reject the Ryan Plan once and for all.

1.5 million North Carolinians depend on Medicare to help pay for prescriptions, and supplement the cost of doctor visits and important medical procedures each year.
We need a balanced approach to our budget. One that cuts wasteful spending and commits to preserving Medicare for future generations.
Our seniors here in North Carolina, and across the country, simply cannot afford to see their benefits slashed by a minority of Tea Party extremists in the House.
Add your voice to mine. Sign the petition to reject the Ryan Plan and protect our Medicare system.

Thank you for standing up for our senior citizens -- your help is truly appreciated.
