New Obamacare Scare Story: “Kentucky Doctor Closes Due to Obamacare” Don’t Believe the Hype !!!
Fasten your seat belts, the next big Obamacare Scare story is about to hit the internet and Fox News. I found it on Twitchy:
Crushing Obamacare consequences: This doctor’s practice-closing newspaper ad says it all [pic]
So the anti-Obama crowd is about to jump on this story with no questions asked.
So let’s first look at what is true:
The doctor, Stephen Kiteck, is indeed closing his Sumerset, KY office at the end of 2013;
The doctor is citing “Obamacare” as the cause of the closure; and
The doctor had “no comment” on how Obamacare was forcing his closure according to a woman at his office today.
But something just isn’t right with this story. For one, we know that the doctor has, and still accepts Medicaid patients, so any crazy idea of the doctor being opposed government involvement is just plain bogus.
But more importantly, there is absolutely no way to claim that any ACA provision will hurt a doctor’s practice. I challenge any conservative, or any one for that matter, to demonstrate how Dr. Stephen Kiteck is being forced to close due to Obamacare.
I’m listening.
Because of Obamacare, and its implantation in Kentucky through Kynect, there will be more Kentuckians with access to health care than any time in history. It is impossible to make the claim that the ACA is forcing any doctor out of business.
Impossible.
Perhaps the good doctor is planning to enter the political world as a Tea Party favorite, maybe he is simply planning to retire to Florida. I have absolutely no clue as to why he closing his practice of 20 years.
Maybe he will break his silence and try to explain how the law that has led to more residents of his state having health coverage in the history of his state is somehow bad. Maybe he’ll appear on Hannity and preach of government overreach after years of accepting Medicaid dollars.
Maybe he’ll just fade away to sunnier pastures.
But I can say without any doubt that blaming “Obamacare” is just a clever, but wholly dishonest claim.
