By now you all have learned that Rep. Steve Stockman at the last minute filed to run against Senator John Cornyn in the Republican Primary for the 2014 U.S. Senate race. This effectively means Stockman won't be running for re-election to the House of Representatives in Texas's 36th Congressional District.
However, the good news is that Michael Cole, the Democratic Candidate running months even before Stockman decided to charge after Cornyn, is still in alive in the now-open TX-36 House race.
For anyone who lives in or nearby TX-36 (located in Southeast Texas), you have an opportunity tonight to meet Michael Cole, as well as Maxey Scherr, one of the Democratic U.S. Senate candidates, at the Jefferson County Democratic Headquarters at 5:30 pm (CST) at 5:30 pm (CST).
Details on the event tonight are as follows:

I did some coverage of Michael Cole on Daily Kos a few months ago back in August so in case you need a refresher on those diaries, who Cole is, and what he has to offer they are as follows:

It should be noted that Cole did run as a Libertarian in 2012 but was effectively disillusioned with the Libertarian Party's lack of openness to liberal-minded people like himself. In other words, Cole refers to the left wing of the Libertarian Party as "low tax liberals." Here on his website he talks about why he remains firmly committed to the Democratic Party. He's very articulate and it comes from his background as a teacher:

In addition, Cole is a strong progressive on a number of issues, particularly with regards to the concerns on minimum wage, unemployment and the debate over what's considered to be minimum wage jobs as opposed to better-paying jobs.
Here's a video of Cole recently at a November 14 meeting at the South East Texas Progressive Democrats in Beaumont, TX. He's pretty fired up:
