A few weeks ago, CNN's president
announced he was looking to give the bland cable news network more "attitude." At the time, it wasn't clear what that attitude would consist of, but now
a possible answer is emerging: Jay Leno. The late-night host's contract with NBC is up in February, and CNN is one of the networks reported to be interested in being the home of Leno's next act.
Jay Leno is "attitude"? When CNN's Jeff Zucker wants a really spicy, adventurous meal, does he go to Olive Garden? Does he headbang to the wild riffs of Pat Boone? Thrill to the avant-garde art of Thomas Kinkade? Make himself look dangerous by donning a pair of blue jeans?
One thing we can deduce is that Zucker doesn't seem to be looking to lower the median age of CNN viewers, if he's looking at Leno. Way to shake up the cable news world there.
