Received this e-mail from gubernatorial candidate Ed FtizGerald's (D. OH) campaign who is pressuring Governor John Kasich (R. OH) to stand up for the unemployed in Ohio:
Say you’re a worker who lost your job during the Great Recession. You’ve found temp work here and there, but long-term stability has been elusive and you currently rely on earned unemployment benefits to pay rent and put some food on the table. It’s not much, but it keeps you off the street.
Now, because Republicans in Congress refuse to reauthorize those benefits, they go away. Your lifeline to pay rent dries up. You can no longer afford to feed your family.
On December 28th, that will be the reality for 40,000 jobless Ohioans.
Yesterday, I wrote an open letter to Governor Kasich asking him to fight for those Ohioans. Will you cosign my letter and fight for our communities?

These 40,000 workers are our friends, family, and neighbors. We know them from the water cooler and church, little league and bake sales. They didn’t tank our economy and they’re not hampering our recovery, yet they’re still suffering.
As I wrote to Governor Kasich, more than 427,000 of our fellow Ohioans are out of work and our state is ranked 44th in the nation in job growth. Today there are 31,000 more Ohioans on the unemployment rolls than a year ago. Extending their benefits is the least we can do.
Join me and tell Governor Kasich to fight for Ohio’s unemployed – they’ve earned it:

Ed
