Hi, there. Sunday again.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
I'm on vacation! I'm on vacation!
I don't remember the last time I had two weeks in a row off. It might have been as long ago as 1994 - in August, when I got married for the second time.
I have no real plans - although my granddaughter and I have already got a batch of Gingerdoodles out of the way.
My grandson is working really hard on calling me "Grandma" - it sounds vaguely like "gammaw", but it's closer than it used to be.
I have my shopping done, and have only to wrap stuff now. And I remembered to get the supplies to do that this morning.
I bought a copy of "William Shakespeare's 'Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope'", and it arrived a few days ago. It begs to be read aloud - I hope I can avoid snickering while I am doing so. The author, Ian Doescher, is a local boy. Lives in Portland, Oregon. And he's working on the next two.
Last week I finished reading Lawrence Watt-Evans's "The Turtle Moves!", which is his opinions on Discworld. I enjoy the man's fantasy, so I thought it might be fun. I should have known it would get me started on reading a bunch of the Discworld books I either haven't read at all or have read only once. And, yes, The Turtle Moves! is fun.
My boss always gives me some money for Christmas, out of his own personal funds. I don't know how he does it, but it has ALWAYS been just the amount I needed to relieve my nerves for the year. A couple of times, it was a fairly whopping amount, too. This year, his wife gave me a loaf of quickbread - spice with cranberries in it. It's delicious - my favorite present so far.
The girls and I are all trying to fight off the juicy cold my grandson was trying to share with everybody last week. I may have to go out and get more cold medicine at least once this week.
And Utah! When I saw that, I just HAD to call my mother. She was equally stunned. Pleased as well - I have mentioned that my parents can make me look downright reactionary, haven't I?
