The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Rain, sun, wind...insects, birds, flowers...meteorites, rocks...seasonal changes...all are worthy additions to the Bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment, and do include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located.
Seattle. December 27, 2013.
Back in April I spoke about The Stump, my convenient natural tripod for an ongoing series of seasonal Forest portraits. I wish I had a better picture, but The Stump has been elusive so far. Perhaps I need to haul in a real tripod.

I am about 5'6". If I lean my body into the stump with my feet on the place where two of the first yellowed Big-leaf Maple leaves have fallen to rest, the top of the predominant flattened slab holds me at mid ribcage. To the right of this are three little vertical projections; my camera rests perfectly on the other side of them.

Your turn now. Let us know what's going on in your natural neighborhood. Everyone is welcome to join in.
I'll be in this morning,, but not until 8ish PST or so, then have an afternoon birding trip planned. Will be back after dinner unless the birds keep us out late.

"Green Diary Rescue" is posted every Saturday at 1:00 pm Pacific Time on the Daily Kos front page. Green Diary Rescue has been good to Backyard Science, so take a minute to recommend, comment, and then link to your other off-Kos groups.
