Fundraiser?  More of those liberals sending their death wishes.  I'll tell them this, I'm going to beat Steve Stockman and then I'm back to royalty.
Looks like Maxey Scherr, who appears to be the tentative front runner (unconfirmed) for the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate race in Texas, is getting very active in campaign events.

On Jan 29th, Scherr and her campaign will be hosting a fundraiser in Houston, TX in the evening.  Not sure if this will be a series of many fundraisers for Maxey Scherr's campaign.

Since it's early in the campaign season, I do mention that Maxey Scherr seems to be getting a lot of the attention and she has a good shot at getting the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate but there are three other Democratic candidates running so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the primary race as the primary itself in Texas is March 4th (super early).

Although Scherr's website doesn't show yet where she stands on the issues, in the campaign ad it does reveal what she's for:

Raising Minimum Wage to $10/hour

Fixing and improving Obamacare, not letting the insurance industry have their way

Increasing support for public school system

Marriage Equality

And the line Scherr says in her ad is great from a message standpoint in terms of women's issues:  "When it comes to these issues, Cruz Control is Government Control, not individual rights.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

and I will NEVER move back to that backwater. I prefer my own backwater, Maine, where we have marriage equality at least.

However, it was nice to hear her mention Marriage Equality, which is something that I think will come to Texas sooner than many people think.

Texas is dear to me. Good luck, Texans.

Barbara Ann Radnofsky, I believe.  She was the Dem candidate for US Sen in 2006 and AG nominee in 2010.  She's a great woman who moved the cause of Democrats forward in Texas forward by leaps and bounds.  I also met Maxey in Houston in early December.  Neat lady.  Her dad is Jim Scherr who is an insanely successful and well known lawyer in El Paso.  He's taken a year off of his practice to assist.  Maxey will have money and will be able to raise money and be in the right place at the right time.  I look forward to her campaign.
