More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  When I was a youngster the Mormons taught me (10+ / 0-)

that when "God" made people, He left black and brown folks in the oven too long and they were made dark, the other skin colors were explained by the time they spent in the "oven."

However, the White Folks, they were left in the oven "just right' and came out white.

Their (Mormon) religious memes have hopefully changed since then altho some of the same bigots are in charge nowadays.  The whole religious thing mixed in with their bigoted history would make me question any Mormon family adopting a " "colored" child.

    Just sayin'

  •  Progressives are the Adults in the Room (12+ / 0-)

I say this because in every situation where a progressive has made a statement they regreted (albeit not half as harsh as what Fox does daily) they always take responsibility and apologize for it.   Where it was Ed Schultz, Martin Bashir and now Melissa Harris-Perry.

Which proves that conversative are truly spoiled brats who will say anything to get what they want and if what they say or do hurts the innocents, hey, not their fault.  Just like a child who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions.  And their the ones who would dare to preach to others about self help.  Right!!

  •  Christie Bridge closure story is growing. (5+ / 0-)

    Almost diary-worthy.

In one exchange of text messages on the second day of the lane closures, Wildstein alludes to messages the Fort Lee mayor had left complaining that school buses were having trouble getting through the traffic.

“Is it wrong that I’m smiling,” the recipient of the text message responded to Wildstein. The person’s identity is not clear because the documents are partially redacted for unknown reasons.

    “No,” Wildstein wrote in response.

“I feel badly about the kids,” the person replied to Wildstein. “I guess.”

“They are the children of Buono voters,” Wildstein wrote, making a reference to Barbara Buono, the Democratic candidate for governor, who lost to Christie in a landslide in November.

on the corporate networks... at least CBS.  I think it was CBS and not just my local CBS (radio) station.  Not having a working TV, I can't speak for that.  But I was surprised to hear a story today about a report from I-don't-remember-which-agency investigating Bridgegate (sorry, I had to go there) and how bad those optics are for Christie.  Wish I remembered more details, but there it was on the corporate news.

CBS top of the hour news, in fact it's got onto the "CBS Evening News" radio preview.  LONG story, with lots of details, as reported in EPNJ's diary (thanks for the link).

So yeah, this looks like this has got legs.

said he thought Harris-Perry didn't say anything bad and was like "She apologized for what?!?"  When Glenn Beck appears sane next to Fox, you know Fox is coo-coo.

I do not get this tempest in a tea pot.  I agree that a couple of things that one of the guests said was pretty damned iffy, but she didn't say those things and she fully apologized for herself, her guests and the stupid idea of putting that picture up in front of comedians.

the right-wing outrage machine.  They can turn ANYTHING into THE WORLD'S BIGGEST LIBRUL SCANDAL!!11!11*

(*at least since the last ginned-uo librul scandal that we worked up last week)

And Fox is at the center of all of it.  That's all they do, is gin up white right-wing outrage.

And remember, there's no victim like a white Republican victim.

but the suspicion that it was intended to be a publicity stunt by the Romneys.  As in, "some of my best friends are black" amplified to "one of my grandchildren is black."

Perhaps she realized it sounded too harsh, and is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as to the reason for adopting this child.  Hopefully, even if they did initially mean it as "tokenism," they will grow to lover her as a real daughter and granddaughter, and the question will be moot.

The Mormon religion is nothing but another Muhammad type visitation wherein a Messenger brings a special message to a chosen one to carry out God's Will which only he is being given to straighten out the World's View on the one and only TRUE GOD.  Buddha, Krishna, Tao, Messiah, Christ have all been given special messages from the one true God!  People are gullible and in our own time Mary Baker Eddy, Amy Temple McPherson, Dwight L. Moody, Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, John Hagee,, John Osteen ad nauseum have that same unique and NEW Message!  All of those men either have fostered a View which allowed murder, mayhem, conquest, genocide or other horrors to be committed in their name!  Whatever man devises some force will corrupt whatever the name.  Look up the subject heading on Google to learn about the sanctity of Mormonism.  And, further it has been identified as one of the seven Heresies by God fearing people!

    •  Oh, am I going to get hit! (0+ / 0-)

Judaism does not proselytize.  In fact, it attempts to discourage people from converting because of the way that their families will flip out.

Far from being a "race," Jews come in all colors and backgrounds.

In the '50s, when it was still legal to ask, I was refused employment, housing, and even a beach that was "restricted."

"Oh, dear, what church do you go to?"  When I said Congregation Beth El, I was told to my face, "Oh, I'm sorry but we don't rent to your kind."  One time I asked, "What is 'my kind'"?

"Oh, I mean, uh, your know Christ killers."

Hopefully folks have finally figured out that their own bible says the Romans did the job.

Good jobs were hard to come by, so I gave Connecticut the finger and moved to California. My first day I rested, the second day, I bought a car. The third day I was hired. What a difference a state makes.

Getting back  to my original thought, according to Torah, the Pentateuch, if you will, God himself came down and he gave us some orders which we accepted.  Now the interesting point about that is that we didn't read the contract before signing it.  We accepted 619 commandments!

To the best of my knowledge, Judaism is the only religion that God himself (herself?) started, no human being involved.  We brought monotheism and morality into the world and, as a Catholic Bishop once said, "They've never been forgiven for that."

I hope that some of you will finally forgive us...please.

as well as a grammar "nazi". The clause  "Melissa Harris-Perry needs fired..." seems to be missing the important "to be", as in "Melissa Harris-Perry needs TO BE fired..." etc.

Pedantic? Maybe. But I see this a lot (not alot) from many of my younger friends, and I'm scratching my head trying to figure out when dropping "to be" became proper grammar. The Dominican nuns who stuffed my head full of English grammar would have whacked me with a ruler if I'd written that. Either "needs to be fired" or "needs firing" (gerund construction) would be correct.

Otherwise this cartoon is spot-on and I love it.
