The Backyard Science group regularly features the Daily Bucket. Buckets chronicle nature's progess in our own backyards and favorite places. Colder than usual? Wondering about the new birds at the feeder? Curious about that odd-colored rock you saw in the road cut?
Please provide a comment about your own area, whether your backyard or your favorite spot. Include, as close as you are comfortable, your general location.
Ryan is my 18-year-old nephew. He made me real nice Christmas presents that I could put into use right on Christmas Day.
To find out more about Ryan's presents, read below the Fleur de Kos.
Ryan is a handy fellow. He made this pizza.
He also gave me these hand-made Christmas gifts. Now how often do you get a hand-made gift anymore?
Of course, I wanted to put his gifts into action immediately. Hungry chickadees and meadowlarks were waiting. Into the suet cage they go.
Now the cage goes in the tree.
And here comes the first bird. The meadowlark and suet cage are in the center of the following picture:
Ryan's present made the birds very happy. They were hungry on this chilly Christmas. It made me happy too.
I'm done bragging about my cool Christmas presents and counting my blessings, so it's your turn to tell us about your corner of the world.
"Green Diary Rescue" is Back!
After a hiatus of over 1 1/2 years, Meteor Blades has revived his excellent series. As MB explained, this weekly diary is a "round-up with excerpts and links... of the hard work so many Kossacks put into bringing matters of environmental concern to the community... I'll be starting out with some commentary of my own on an issue related to the environment, a word I take in its broadest meaning."
"Green Diary Rescue" will be posted every Saturday at 1:00 pm Pacific Time on the Daily Kos front page. Be sure to recommend and comment in the diary.
