You have read or heard it a million times already: Chris Christie's people caused a humongous, four-day traffic jam in Fort Lee, New Jersey, as payback against the mayor of that town because he refused to support the governor's bid for re-election.
And yet neither you nor I have seen any evidence that this is true. If you disagree then post the evidence you have in a comment to this diary.
The meme I outlined above, if un-true, must be stopped dead in its tracks so the real cause of this criminal act can more likely be determined.
Yeah, yeah, I know...this is not much of a diary but I am sick of stupid things becoming entrenched beliefs when there is no evidence for them.
A typical example of this nonsense comes from the Washington Post in an article with the dramatic headline "E-mails suggest Christie aides jammed traffic as political revenge":
But guess what? There is no evidence for that in the article! Go ahead, click me and try to find it!
There are many government officials in New Jersey who did not support Christie for governor. Why was the mayor of relatively small Fort Lee targeted instead of someone else? The idea is ridiculous on its face.
EDIT: Given that there is also no evidence that a real traffic study was ever conducted, I firmly believe that Christie's office set up this traffic jam for nefarious purposes and I want to know what they were. But that is a subject for anothe diary and I would prefer to keep this one tightly focused.
