As they say in New Jersey, I'm really sauced right now at the fiasco that my Virginia ACA Exchange health coverage is turning into and I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer. See below for gory (metaphorically speaking, thankfully) details
In a nutshell we enrolled online successfully well before the December deadline for January 1 coverage. That was our last successful step. After that is when we become embroiled in phone hell and payment limbo hell. The payment deadlines for January first coverage have been moved from some original date in December which I can't remember to January 10, then January 15th, and now January 30th. I know this because I have paid twice to meet two of those deadlines and have confirmations, but no payment has ever been processed. And now I guess I will try to pay for a THIRD time. The ever changing deadlines tell me I can't be the only one with this problem.
You have to have your payment processed in order to get member IDs and to actually USE your coverage. I can pay, they just can't seem to process payments. After my first payment (remember, I have a confirmation number) I called and was told by the rep, no record existed of the payment. It didn't seem to matter that I had a confirmation. That payment was by credit card. I paid again by electronic check. That payment has not been processed either. It looks like I will have to try to pay a THIRD TIME for January coverage which we have not been able to utilize because they can't process our payments! It is insane!
So, what I want to know is if there is some kind of ombudsman or a complaint line or some authority that citizen taxpayer consumers can use to report crap like this. I am on my last nerve. I did write a long sort of funny yet ultimately pathetic account of the multiple calls, the wait times, the time they told me they couldn't help me but call this number and they can and it turned out to be the number I had called to have the current conversation! (follow that?).
Will my payment ever be processed? Will we ever actually get the coverage and IDs or is it all just some crazy Potemkin Village of healthcare? It's a Bizarro Healthcare World Reverse Field of Dreams - They Are Coming, But We Haven't Built It.
Before people think I am slamming government healthcare, I am not! Because this is a humongous, pre-exisitng giant health insurance entity. The ACA kept them in the loop. They are actually getting pretty much the same ginormous premium they have always gotten from me, but now it is subsidized. What is their problem???!!!! ARRRGHHHHH!!!!!!!
