Boo yah!  Guys, I just got endorsed by the Daily Caller for President of the U.S.A.!  When I'm president, I'll finally get the answers to Benghazi, IRS, Fast & Furious, National Parks Service.  Anyone who challenges me, pa-lease!  Talk to the hand!
I can't believe this is a real story.  Seriously, out of all the things the Daily Caller could do in the world to sputter more elitist propaganda disguised as "conservative politics & discussion," it just had to write this article.

Yes folks, hate to break it to you but....

Daily Caller folks just endorsed Darrell Issa as a presidential candidate.  Observe from political "reporter" Alexis Levinson as she works to "convince" us with her "breaking news" story:

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa is headed to New Hampshire, the destination for top presidential contenders and long shots alike leading up to 2016′s presidential season.

Issa will speak at the Lincoln Day Dinner for the Concord Republican City and Merrimack County committees on February 7, U-T San Diego reported.

“There are two conversations that will shape the 2014 and 2016 elections and there couldn’t be a better place to start those conversations than in New Hampshire,” Issa said in a statement. “The first is whether or not the Republican Party can define itself as the party that supports individual opportunity and American entrepreneurship so that you can be the engine of your own prosperity, not government. The second comes down to how comfortable the American people are with a large, invasive and powerful government that escapes accountability with no check-and-balance.”

Boy, Issa's statement certainly seems to speak volumes to those who are unemployed,

"You can be the engine of your own prosperity, not government."

Let's see if I can find a potential undecided voter...

UNDECIDED VOTER IN 2016:  Wow, I can be the engine of my own prosperity!  I've been out of work, can't find a job, am in debt, hate my pet snake, can't get affordable healthcare and what Darrell Issa just said solved all of my problems, it really did!  I would have LOVED if he had been Governor of California, not Arnold Schwarzenegger!

“From Operation Fast & Furious to the IRS targeting scandal to the disastrous implementation of the President’s health care plan, Congressman Issa has been standing with the American people to protect their right to know what this government is doing and we are very excited that he is coming to New Hampshire to headline our annual event,” Kerry Marsh, Chairwoman of the Concord GOP, said in a statement. “Every year, this dinner gets bigger and has become one of New Hampshire’s signature political events."
UNDECIDED VOTER IN 2016:  YEAH!  Issa went after President Obama!  Yeah!  That's what I call a President!  He was against the Clinton & GOP Budget compromise that ended up helping the U.S. get a big surplus, he voted for the Iraq War to continue for a number of years and he went after President Bush after November 2006 because that's what the GOP wanted him to.  Oh and I LOVE his Benghazi, Fast & Furious and IRS investigations!  I always have my popcorn out when he chairs those hearings!  Orville Redenbacher baby!

Then there's more from Daily Caller:

Issa, whose name is not frequently mentioned among likely Republican 2016 contenders, joins a steady stream of potential presidential hopefuls who have made the pilgrimage to the Granite State in recent months. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Issa’s colleague, New York Rep. Peter King all made visits over the past year.
UNDECIDED VOTER IN 2016:  Oh that Darrell Issa, he can beat Rand Paul, Peter King, Bobby Jindal, ALL of those guys!  Did they investigate?  No they didn't!  Did they REALLY go after Obama?  Nope, they just used talking points.  Issa didn't!

Looks like though Mr. Undecided Voter in 2016 will be disappointed as Darrell Issa's spokesman put the issue to rest:

“Congressman Issa has been one of the leaders in the discussion about the appropriate role of government in our lives. This trip is an opportunity for him to continue facilitating and advancing that conversation, not about pursuing any other office,” Bardella emailed.
UNDECIDED VOTER IN 2016:  GRRRRRR.  There is no hope in this world.

I mean really, who else but the Daily Caller of all so-called online "reporting" sites would discuss even the remote possibility of Darrell Issa being floated as a presidential candidate in 2016?

In other news, reporter Mark Walker of the UT San Diego just tweeted that Darrell Issa has received a second Democratic challenger.  This time, the challenger is Poway-based Drew Leavens.

Don't have any information yet on Mr. Leavens but plenty on Dave Peiser who has been running against Issa for months.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
