Or maybe it was just effective "Chicago Thug" tactics by the Obama administration.
In a somewhat surprising development, it appears that the Iran Sanctions Bill is not likely to pass soon. Just a few days ago the question was whether the Senate (which had 59 co-sponsors for the bill) could override the President's veto of the bill.
But now (via Steve Benen at the link above), there are several indications that the bill is dead for now. First, in the House, pressure on Democrats from anti-Iran deal forces was apparently mitigated by their distaste for entering into a "bipartisan" bill with the likes of Boehner and Cantor.
And in the Senate, Bob Corker (R, marginally worse than Harold Ford), a sponsor of the sanctions bill (sadly, along with Bob Menendez), “proposed the idea of scheduling a vote on Iran sanctions six months from now, after the interim nuclear agreement has run its course, instead of voting on sanctions right now.”
Wait. What? Bob Corker has become John Lennon and will Give Peace a Chance?
Imagine.
