Oh, yes. This news is sure to delight many. The build up for Los Angeles' big Rush Limbaugh KEIB move, slated for January 20, was preempted by an Los Angeles Kings hockey game, reports LARadio:
“For several weeks, KFI promoted Rush's [big] move to KEIB  today – January 20,” wrote Gary West from MrPopCulture.com. “I tuned in the 11 a.m. hour and at 11:30 – without any kind of mention – the Kings’ hockey pre-game began, pre-empting the last half-hour. Is this station talk and sports? Totally confused. Is somebody kidding?”

Apparently the program director, Robin Betolucci, felt her partners, the Stanley Cup Champions, LA Kings, were more important than Rush Limbaugh. Why yes they are!

“This was a rare situation with an early game,” emailed KEIB pd Robin Bertolucci. “Most Kings games start late afternoon or early evening. Once or twice a year there is an early game such as yesterday's. This one forced us to pre-empt 30 minutes of Rush's show since coverage started at 11:30.”

Oh, how the Right-Wing Conservative rags did toot and jump all over Limbaugh's move. They claimed it was a promotion, but in reality, it was a demotion claims radio veteran, Howard Hoffman, on the BradBlog.com.

"Between the two other 24/7 right wing stations, KABC (0.7) and KRLA (0.3), the total audience is right at a 1 share, meaning 99% of the available audience does NOT listen to conservative talk radio, despite the bluster and bravado. Rush being taken off KFI's signal on 640AM and shoved up into the upper end of the AM dial at 1150AM is the radio equivalent of being put in the naughty corner.

And Limbaugh's Clear Channel daddy? They are billions in debt. So who's footing the bill for Limbaugh's failure with thousands of sponsors leaving, a mega-network suffering financially, and stations replacing Limbaugh with Country and Rock and Roll? Well, we know the Tea Party/Koch Brothers/Freedom Works/Heritage Foundation are helping to 'sponsor' Limbaugh, and yes, they have unlimited funds. But sooner or later El Rushbo is going to puck up again - and game will be over.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
