I admit I recently got just a little too interested in a certain right wing troll who seems to have undue influence on some Republicans. I won't play games by not naming him, it is Erick, son of Erick.

I realized that I would be causing myself unending agony by reading his twisted, illogical, bible thumping wastes of cyberspace also known as Red State diaries. I knew I had to stop. I did.

Fortunately, (or not) I learned this lesson when I once tried to contribute to a libertarian site. I thought they were mischaracterizing Freidrich Hayek to their own selfish ends. You can imagine how that went. I walked away eventually and realized exiting in cases like these was the best thing to do.

But Erickson is harder to ignore than an obscure libertarian blog. He's mentioned on MSNBC for crying out loud. I hear his vile tweets even when I'm not following him on twitter. And when it was mentioned that he was sleazily tweeting along with the rest of the right wing noise machine about Wendy Davis, I just had to look.

Here's what I found:

That's just one. Plenty before that one and it has not let up since. Abortion Barbie? Naw Erick, you're not a troll. Not at all! Not sexist either. You're doing the Lord's work, just how He wanted it done!

Anyway, the point of all this is not to retort rhetorically but pecuniarily. I didn't rant on Twitter or here on DK about what a fuckstick Erickson was. I donated. I donated to Wendy Davis' campaign.

I know we get pitched to donate to this or that pretty much everyday. None of us have enough money to contribute to everyone nor do our interests always align. But with that said, I'm going to ask you to contribute whatever you can to this campaign.

Imagine the head explosions on the right if Davis could win the Texas governorship. Imagine the positive change for women this would signal. It could be a turning point in the war on women. Even if it's a small $3 or $10 donation, it counts. It means something. When the finance reports come out, the world will know we stand together.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

the towering intellect or perhaps as the natural outcome of Stupid Winger Tricks.  The hoary idea of linguistic jujitsu is being used by every two bit pitchman and preacher in the country now whose shoes cost more than his ideas.

Erick delights in claims such as it is racist to hold racists in disdain or it is sexist to call out sexists on their MRA schtick.  Most recently, I see MRA types claiming that abortion prevents men from enjoying the fruits of fatherhood without their noting how many of their ranks are deadbeat dads for kids that were not aborted or how many of their ranks enjoy a fairly comfortable life while their kids struggle on public assistance.

Most extreme is the KY bill which redefines abortion as domestic abuse so male partners can have wives and girlfriends and their physicians arrested for child abuse.  In Erick's mind this is A-OK because even ex-partners can bring charges.  In theory this means if a woman does manage to move on with her life, the guy she left behind still has some degree of control over her life.

However such myths are common as I note a cable channel has a made for TV movie coming up which chronicles the travails and triumphs of a guy whose girlfriend bails after the birth of their child, leaving him to raise the child as a single parent while he pursues a college education.  While it may be based on a true story, as advertised, the question is, how realistic is this storyline or how often does this scenario play out and how many times does the guy bail on the situation?

Having lost on "Protecting Marriage" and watching the Obamacare Crusade crumble around them and worn out the over-banged drum of "Benghazi!!!1!!1!".... seems to be some serious Abortion Fetishness over there.  Its non-stop lately.  I think it started as a "No the social conservatives shouldn't shut up so we can win elections" kind of meme which seemed a logical branch of the GOP Civil War discussion tree, but now its delved into crazy levels of infanticide and personhood rights of the unborn millions and whatnot.

They are usually not this singe-issue over there.  I thought maybe it was some kind of anniversary or there was some big Abortion decision before the SCOTUS or something else of which I was not aware.

I started donating to Wendy's campaign when she first declared.  I remember Ann Richards and I'd like to see my home state back in those kind of hands.

Now O'Keefe has made a montage video in which he is attempting to smear Battleground Texas along with Wendy.   The information is relative to the Dallas Morning News - questions:  asked / answered, hell, Dallas Morning News said THANKS for addressing their column.
