Politico as well as "multiple sources" are reporting that Trey Radel (R-FL) will resign as a Representative from the House today. Radel was convicted of cocaine purchasing last November and was given a slap on the hand.
It's odd that this announcement is occurring fully two months after Radel was convicted.
Radel just came out of rehab, and two possibilities come to mind. One is that there's another shoe to drop with regards to the Radel story. Alternatively, Republican leadership may have determined that the Radel issue was attracting too much negative attention in an election year.
