So, my Google News feed just fed me an interesting tidbit via yes, Fox News:
Allan Levene is running for the House of Representatives in his home state of Georgia -- as well as Michigan, Minnesota and Hawaii.
He says he's studied the Constitution, obviously written at a time that it was impractical to run in more than one race. And, while you must be a resident of the state which you're going to represent at the time of that campaign, Levene believes that he can primary in all four, if needed. His first primary - in May, in GA (where he happens to live) - is three months earlier than the next.
He's a 64 year old transplant from the UK who "has a debt of gratitude" to the US for letting him immigrate 40 years ago. His plans?
One of the main issues Levene is running on is jobs. He said he wants to reduce the corporate tax rate to zero, with the hopes of bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. and creating a “tax haven” for overseas businesses. He also has a proposal he says will stop overspending in Congress by forcing incumbents out of office. His plan would allow lawmakers to be in office no more than eight years or nix their pensions.
More "regional" lawmakers - you know, the old fashioned type, who actually live with the people they represent - aren't sure of his reception in their states.
What do you all think?
