Many on here will be aware of the homophobic legislation that Vladimir Putin has passed. First a reminder of the restrictions described by the BBC's John Sweeney that was shown as part of their flagship current affairs strand "Panorama". (I hope this is not geoblocked by the BBC, if so please let me know). The reaction of the Mayor of Sochi at about 1:30 is priceless.
More below the orange.
Now we know that Putin wants to uphold "tradition values". I presume this has something to do with the division of labor in a relationship. So I wonder how he reacts to men engaging in what can only be described as competitive housework? This from Turin(o) 2006.
I should point out that there is also women's curling but I do not advise googling that.
Perhaps his biggest challenge is how this sport, which only men do, is not "promoting homosexuality". It is perhaps the gayest sport in the Winter Olympics With that in mind, listen to the soundtrack on the event at Vancouver 2010. They tell you who are the top men although they have got the plumbing a bit mixed up. To make it worse for dear Vlad, two of the pairs are brothers.
I wonder if the Sochi police will be waiting at the end of each run.
