Don't you just love that new hashtag smell?
I suppose I should have noticed it from Rep. Huelskamp's attention-grabbing SOTU tweet, reinforced by his sputterances on Ms. Maddow's program. But, as I sometimes am forced to pay attention to idiocy non-GOP, I hadn't noticed the Spoil Opposition's shiny new meme until this weekend, when the most effective conservative policy wonk (TM) was dispatched to "This Weak" to warn poor, vulnerable, unsuspecting America of Barack Obama's "increasingly lawless presidency."
The transcript editor forgot the hashtag and capital Ls, but Eddie Wonkster's repetition of the phrase makes clear the right of the right has settled on their hobby for the year: #LawLess.
Classier than scrapbooking and requiring less patience than building ships in bottles, the obsession with the president's Dodge City administration will, if the past is prologue, become the latest Beltway craze, gobbling House Republicans' time and, ironically, preventing them from crafting any laws of their own.
While many here (and, one presumes, in the White House), might hope that this season's Three Minute Hashtag is the first brick in a foundation for a motion to impeach, raising the president's favorables and further eroding Republican approval, Badger Wonk vowed on the program he had "no intention to make any attempt to impeach the president."
Too bad, that. I suppose it's just easier to spell than Benghazi, despite the capitals.
