HA! I've been here since 2011, ever since I beat that Gene Taylor back in November 2010 and I'm telling you, I'm doing just fine here. I got 64% of the votes in the last election and you know what? This Trish Causey, whoever she is, she's just like Hollywood. She doesn't value conservative beliefs like we do in Mississippi. I bet she loves the Grammy's!
Ever since Rep. Steven Palazzo back in November 2010 beat then-Rep. Gene Taylor by just 5.1% of the votes, he's had a smooth sailing for re-election. Back in November 2012, he won 64.1% of the votes vs. then-Democratic Candidate Matthew Moore. Mississippi's 4th Congressional District also has a PVI of R+21 per the Cook Political Report so obviously it isn't on the DCCC's radar anytime soon.
However, long-time artist and grassroots activist Trish Causey is still determined to unseat Rep. Palazzo regardless of the odds. In the race for the past several months, Causey's been slowly but surely building her base both on Facebook and Twitter.
On February 12th in Ocean Springs, MS in the evening, Causey is holding a campaign event at the Mosaic Tapas Bar. Details below in case any of you are interested:

CHANGE OF VENUE (Last Time, I promise!) -- Due to the LARGE number of RSVP's of people definitely attending this meeting, we will meet at Big Shirley's on Government St. in downtown Ocean Springs at 7:00 p.m. Big Shirley's is on the south side (right side) of Govt. St., just past Phoenicia's Restaurant.
We will meet on the covered porch dining area outside, so dress warmly.
This is for us to meet in person and get to know each other better. Yes, we'll talk about political issues. But no bitching just brainstorming.
Address:
Big Shirley's, 1314 Government St, Ocean Springs, MS 39564
Trish Causey may be an underdog in a race that may not be friendly for Democrats but she's pretty fired up here on her website:

Congress currently spends most of its time legislating women's bodies, hurting the poor, and enabling the capitalist vultures of the 1%. Congress needs to focus on urgent issues like jobs, the economy, equal pay, saving Social Security, reversing poverty, boosting education, repealing the Patriot Act, reigning in the NSA, and helping our veterans, to name a few. Getting the money out of politics is a priority as well.
I am pro-choice, pro-living wage, pro-marriage equality, pro-union, pro-GMO labeling, pro-immigration reform, pro-marijuana legalization, and pro-sensible gun legislation. To read more about what I stand for, read this post on my Trish4Congress blog: Trish Causey for U.S. Congress in 2014: Who I Am & Where I Stand on Issues.
Currently, this House of Representatives seat is held by Steven Palazzo (R), who opposed the Violence Against Women Act and would not approve federal help for victims of Hurricane Sandy until he traveled to the area personally, not to mention his ethics' issues involving turning over his accounting firm, questionable use of Congressional staff for personal reasons, and aligning with the Tea Party.
In addition, Causey's a pretty fiery defender of women's rights and even had a conversation on Twitter where Down with Tyranny's Howie Klein did a thorough questioning of her stance on the issues:
