Top members of the Obama Administration are coming to Los Angeles this Thursday to meet with Governor Jerry Brown (D. CA) and CREDO Action is putting together a rally calling on Governor Brown to reject fracking in California and for the Obama Administration to reject the Keystone XL Pipeline:
On Thursday, top Obama administration officials are meeting with Governor Brown in LA to discuss how the Federal Government can help communities cope with the impacts of a changing climate.
CREDO and our allies are organizing a rally outside of the event to send both administrations the same message: Don't make climate change worse by backing extreme energy projects like the Keystone XL pipeline and fracking.
This Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience is a clear acknowledgment by our leaders of the dangers posed to our communities by climate change. This meeting is an important opportunity to make clear that if they actually intend to protect us, then they simply can not continue doubling down on the dirtiest and most dangerous fossil fuels.
What: Rally to tell President Obama and Governor Brown: Don't make climate change worse.
When: Thursday, February 13, 11 AM
Where: Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, California 90012

Even as our leaders are meeting to talk about responding to the growing threat of climate change, they are still considering major expansions of dirty fossil fuels.
The State Department just released the final environmental impact statement on the Keystone XL pipeline. And, even though the report was written by a deeply compromised oil industry contractor, it still shows that the pipeline fails President Obama's climate test by increasing carbon pollution.
Meanwhile, despite the historic drought, Governor Brown appears poised to sign off on a huge expansion of water-intensive fracking for dirty oil, which would put additional stress on the state's water supply while exacerbating climate change.
We know the fossil fuel industry is putting enormous pressure on both administrations to back even more fossil fuel extraction. If we want to avoid the worst effects of climate change, though, we need to continue putting grassroots pressure on both President Obama and Governor Brown to stand up to the oil industry and act like real climate leaders.
