Well, the first day has unfolded. Terming it a train wreck would be unfair to train wrecks.
Here's an overview of the coverage:
The Mail Tribune, KDRV (ABC affiliate) on Facebook - check the "posts by others" of pictures sent out by students of the conditions inside classrooms... More below the loopy curls!
[UPDATE] - more press from today:
Mail Trib (hint on the trib, go in Incognito or in some other way that doesn't log cookies, then you won't run into click limits each month)

Other reports from the field that are relatively reliable, but NOT confirmed, as yet:
- Fire Marshals force re-rooming of students at North and South Medford HS campuses after plan results in too many students in rooms.
- Pandemonium at South High with a mosh pit in a hallway, resulting in broken furniture.
- Subs refusing to provide their names to the students in the classrooms.
- Students being cited after their abbreviated schedules ended as they displayed signs in support of teachers (not clear on the actual citation - probably trespassing, which would be letter of the law appropriate)
- No crossing guards for the midday changeover for Elementary Schools -- striking teachers end up doing traffic control so their students can safely cross the street...
- Elementary math lesson based on beer volume pricing for Super Bowl parties...
- AP classes under the tutelage of classified staff
