I have to admit, I believed Obama when he talked about being the most transparent president ever, this is what we were focusing on at the time, and he lied. The man has never had any intention of being the most transparent president ever, and instead has raised eyebrows across the spectrum for his prosecution of journalists trafficking in information that is clearly not secret.
It's ironic that our first black president, a constitutional scholar, only has the last Bush presidency as a rival for his wanton disregard for constitutional rights, as well as his sell-out to financial interests.
We can talk about a legacy, but it won't include anything about the "smartest people in the room", as we've noted all too well. Maybe the cockiest people in the room, maybe the smartest people in the room who don't give a shit about what the fuck are values are and what we were founded upon, but who cares, just make up your own shit, right?
I see an epic 8-year failure unless the man takes control of his own administration and actually delivers on what he promised in the first place, which isn't another byzantine medical billing system that no one understands, but instead actually being the most transparent president ever (aside from ruminating in the media about killing American citizens like it's American Idol up for a vote), and supporting initiatives that would actually support more transparency and freedom of information, which we dearly need because we are rotting at the core as a country due to elitism, secrecy and violence.
It's easy to dodge accountability on the surface when you never actually perform what you promised in the first place, but of course to the smartest, deepest folks we see this as the most direct LACK of accountability, really just recklessness.
We can do better.
