I had the pleasure of hearing Rand Paul parroting the whole libertarian notion that doing your job is slavery( in relation to ACA) and thought of an interesting juxtaposition; what if we applied Mr Paul's logic to other services. Most Rightists agree on the sanctity of Private Property. They often posit a right to own property as the basis of all other rights. To have a right to own property mean anything beyond law of the jungle requires police and courts. If DR Paul feels being required to actually treat people if he hangs a shingle as a MD is slavery, is it not slavery to require a policeman to assist Dr Paul in holding his property? I see providing health care to all citizens as a more fundamental function of government than protecting property. I mean, I trust my guns and dogs more for physical protection of my property than the police. Isn't that the American way?Dr Paul is no more a slave working under ACA, should he return to private medical practice, than a judge is a slave for having to hear a case involving theft because of laws prohibiting theft. Really it just sounds like a reasonable proposition. It fails in logic when examined.
