Pat Roberts' Kansas "residence"
As you may have heard by now, Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts is under fire for not actually spending any time in, you know, Kansas. But with a tea party primary challenger causing trouble back home, Roberts desperately attempted to prove that he hadn't "gone Washington" ... by renting some space from a donor in Dodge City. Who lives on a golf course. What kind of space,
you might wonder?
"I have full access to the recliner," the senator joked. Turning serious, he added, "Nobody knows the state better than I do."
Only it doesn't seem like Sunflower State voters are all too thrilled with Roberts quipping about his time-share in a La-Z-Boy. In a teaser from their upcoming Kansas poll, PPP makes it pretty clear that Roberts has a problem on his hands:
Only 24% of Kansas voters think Pat Roberts spends enough time in the state

Former Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar lost a primary two years ago because he was perceived as estranged from his home state. The same fate could very well befall Roberts, too. His opponent, physician Milton Wolf, still trails in the polls and probably needs some deep-pocketed help from the likes of the Club for Growth to do Roberts in. But right now, Roberts is on the defensive—and this is no time to hit the recliner.
