Okay, I know you're not exactly shocked to learn that Republicans are attacking President Obama, because that's pretty much what Republicans do. But now that President Obama
has walked away from his 2013 budget proposal to cut Social Security, this is the kind of attack that Democrats
should embrace:
President Obama is under fire from Republicans for backtracking on proposed Social Security and other benefit cuts in his upcoming budget proposal. [...]
“This reaffirms what has become all too apparent: the president has no interest in doing anything, even modest, to address our looming debt crisis,” House Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman Brendan Buck said in a statement.
Compare that attack to
this one last year from Oregon Rep. Greg Walden, the chairman of the House GOP's campaign committee:
The budget really lays out kind of a shocking attack on seniors.
And:
Well, once again, you're trying to balance this budget on the backs of seniors and I just think it's not the right way to go.
The point is, no matter what you do, Republicans will attack. So you might as well do the right thing and let them attack you for it. And when their attack is as dumb as this one, maybe you should offer to lend them some money for an ad so they can put in on television.
