One of the debates about our mass media is how much they should hype new scientific studies. An article caught my eye the other day on yet another scientific study, published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, that for the first time found the act of sitting to be a risk factor for disability.
Now, it's an initial study and it did not get anywhere close to proving that sitting causes a disability, nor did it rule out that having a disability causes people to be less active. However, I found it interesting. Details are in a fairly comprehensive Reuters article here: http://www.reuters.com/...
Daily Kos Weight Loss is a community at Daily Kos dedicated to weight loss, maintenance, and support. As with all communities, trolls are calorie-free and will be munched should they engage with us. Please feel free to jump, jog, skip, dive, or walk in.
The reason I found this article interesting is that the main method I used for about nine months to lose weight was just standing up more. I eventually added walking back into my routine, too, which helps. But standing just gave me more energy and more ability to do things than I'd anticipated.
And I do have some disabilities. For example, I can tell spring is on its way. Why? I'm having my annual allergy attack. (At least it didn't happen on Valentine's this year)
So come on in. What do you think? How's the weight loss going? And how can we help?
136 on the scale this morning.

This little guy always stands up, and he's in great shape. Of course, he does do this:
